In 2019 Octopus Energy surpassed 1 million UK retail customers, announced licensing agreements for its Kraken Technology Platform and launched Octopus Energy Hatchery, whose first venture is Octopus Hydrogen. The Electric Juice Network (now Electroverse) was launched in May 2020 and by the end of the year the group was valued at over $2 billion after closing two investment rounds in nine months, also launching Octopus Energy Generation, Kraken Flex and Octopus Centre for Net Zero.

Octopus Energy Group 2021-

In January 2021 Octopus bought two wind turbines in East Yorkshire in England and Caerphilly in South Wales, creating the Octopus Fan Club. In July 2021 they acquired sister company Octopus Renewables and in September 2021, Generation Investment Management, co-founded and chaired by Al Gore, purchased a 13% stake in Octopus Energy Group in a deal worth $600m. In November 2021, Octopus signed a deal with the Manchester city region as part of a bid to become carbon neutral by 2038. In December 2021, Octopus Energy announced a long-term partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, raising $300m and taking the valuation of Octopus Energy Group to approximately $5bn. Octopus is currently building the UK's first R&D and training centre for the decarbonisation of heat. Located in Slough, the centre will train 1,000 heat pump engineers per year and develop new heating systems.
