What Is Octopus Electric Match?
Electric Match gives you carbon-free electricity that you can trace to an exact time and location.
Who Is Electric Match For?
Electric Match is for large businesses that want greener, cleaner more accountable energy and use at least 10 GWh of electricity per annum. Your business will need meters which can send half-hourly readings, either smart meters or half-hourly meters. Octopus also ask that businesses are happy to join them in speaking publicly about the benefits of Electric Match and carbon-free electricity.
How Does Electric Match Work?
You select a team of renewable generators to power your business and Octopus will provide certification for every kWh your business consumes, thereby providing granular carbon reporting. When you use electricity, it becomes 'matched’ within 30 minutes of them generating it. You can choose from solar, hydroelectric, onshore wind and offshore wind generators. As their generation peaks at different times of the day and year, you can maximise your matching with a diverse combination. Electric Match can be used in tandem with any Octopus business tariff or you can save money by setting up a bespoke Electric Match contract.
Do I Have To Own My Properties To Be Eligible For Electric Match?
No, you just need to have control over the energy arrangements.
